چکیده

Despite increasing complexity of neurosurgical procedures; they have become safer over the last few decades which can be clearly attributed to rapid advancement in technology coupled with dramatic improvement in radiological imaging. Today neurosurgical treatment is increasingly benefitted by rapid developments in radiological imaging and post processing techniques leading to decreased invasiveness and improved safety. With increasing expectation from patients and greater understanding of biology of intracranial pathologies, the limitations of structural imaging became more obvious leading to development of imaging modalities to link function with imaging providing robust clinical information with potential to impact the clinical management and outcome. Initially driven by improvement in structural imaging, the last few years have witnessed tremendous advances in the field of functional neuroimaging and brain mapping techniques [1]. In the last two decades a variety of functional imaging techniques have been developed which are increasingly able to give surgeons an understanding not only of the complex anatomical relationships of brain lesions, but also of the functional relationship of the lesion to surrounding key cortical areas and white matter structures.

P28: Neuroimaging in Anxiety Disorders

In recent years, the development of neuroimaging techniques such as high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), positron emission tomography (PET), or single photon emission tomography (SPECT) has promoted the identification of structural and functional characteristics underlying mental disorders to a great extent. In anxiety disorders, recent...

Neuroimaging in Iran: A Review

ABSTRACTNeuroimaging allows noninvasive evaluation of the anatomy, physiology, and function of the brain. It is widely used for diagnosis, treatment planning, and treatment evaluation of neurological disorders as well as understanding functions of the brain in health and disease. Neuroimaging modalities include X-ray computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), single photon emis...

Functional neuroimaging after severe anoxic brain injury in children may reveal preserved, yet covert, cognitive function.

A growing body of evidence has confirmed that, after severe brain injury in adults, motoric and task-dependent factors that are essential for reliable communication, frequently interfere with an accurate assessment of cognitive status. In the current study, resting state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) in children who have sustained an anoxic brain injury following a near drowning ...

Social status level and dimension interactively influence person evaluations indexed by P300s.

Functional neuroimaging research suggests that status-based evaluations may not solely depend on the level of social status but also on the conferred status dimension. However, no reports to date have studied how status level and dimension shape early person evaluations. To explore early status-based person evaluations, event-related brain potential data were collected from 29 participants whil...

Pattern-based classification in functional neuroimaging 1 Running head: PATTERN-CLASSIFICATION IN FUNCTIONAL NEUROIMAGING Theoretical, statistical, and practical perspectives on pattern-based classification approaches to the analysis of functional neuroimaging data

The goal of pattern-based classification of functional neuroimaging data is to link individual brain activation patterns to the experimental conditions experienced during the scans. These " brain-reading " analyses advance functional neuroimaging on three fronts. From a technical standpoint, pattern-based classifiers overcome fatal flaws in the status quo inferential and exploratory multivariat...
